Mike and his crew did an excellent job rebuilding some unusual platforms on the exterior of my home, and replacing some rotten cedar board and battons. This was a complicated exterior renovation project that required expertise and creativity to repair my 1968 home. I was very pleased with the end results.

Mike and his team did an excellent job on our project. We had some cedar siding that was rotting and needed to be replaced along with some boards on our second floor balcony. It looks great and will hopefully hold up for much longer than the original wood did.

We noticed that our balcony/deck had started to show signs of deterioration and wood rot and began to look for someone we could trust that had the skill set to handle the repair job. The house was built in 1962 by a well-known local home builder, so I guess we should not have been surprised that there was some rotten wood that needed replacing. We thought it was just going to be some repairs to the existing balcony and so we had several contractors come to look at the balcony to give us an estimate. Mike Griffin with Capitol City Wood Works came to take a look and he began to study the construction of the balcony. He suggested that we have a structural engineer come and take a look. Turns out the balcony needed to be demolished and rebuilt to bring it up to code - not just repaired. Mike gave us a bid and we could tell he knew what he was doing and was going to rebuild it the right way with the proper permits to make it a beautiful, but safe space too. Mike's price was reasonable but not cheap. Remember "You get what you pay for." It took a while to get it done due to delays in getting the permits approved by the City Permit Department so that CCWW could start the work and the awful heat wave we had in the summer of 2023, but it was well worth the effort that was put into the project, and now we have a beautiful new balcony/deck to enjoy. The new balcony is so structurally sound and well-built, it will be here for many, many years! Mike's crew is really great! They work well together and are highly skilled. We enjoyed working with them and they communicated well with us on any questions we had. Mike was always on time for appointments with us and made it clear that he really wanted us to be happy and pleased with the outcome. He is very detail oriented and thoughtful about his jobs. We will definitely call Mike if we have any future projects!

We recently hired Mike and his team to enclose our existing patio, add a balcony above it and add a deck attached to it. The workmanship was top notch and the crew including John, Dave, Claudio, and Kenny were all quite professional and courteous. It is rare these days to find true craftsmen that do not compromise on quality but Mike and his team are just that-true craftsmen. On this job they worked with a number of materials and items from bricks, lumber, and metal to doors, windows, and electrical. All were done properly with proper attention paid to the detailed finishing. They did a fantastic job of blending the new construction with the existing walls and foundation making it very difficult to distinguish what they added from the existing parts of the building. We highly recommend CCWW if you are looking for high quality custom work.

Claudio and his team did such a beautiful job on replacing some doors in my house that I almost immediately hired them back to remove some popcorn from the ceiling. When scheduling the job, I made sure they knew I had company coming in a week and wanted no mess. When they ran into some unexpected challenges, they worked extra hours to make sure the job was finished and cleaned up well before my deadline. Thanks guys! Mike and his team did an amazing job on our house. They replaced two wood columns on our front porch that had rotted and begun to sag, which was causing issues with our front door and the interior of the wall next to the porch. In addition to replacing the columns, they reset our front door and did significant repair work to the drywall on the interior of the house. We had a great experience working with Capitol City Wood Works! Our project included re-siding our home with hardi-plank, replacing all windows on our home along with an exterior door and sliding door, installing motion lights and other minor electrical work, and finally repainting the entire exterior. Mike and his team replaced three aging decks for us. The project was challenging because two of the decks are about 30 feet above the ground. They also replaced the railing on two of the decks and renovated our pergola. The team was professional and personable, and even my cats eventually bonded with them. I get nervous about projects like this, but it turned out that the many positive reviews I read were accurate. And best of all, the results are amazing! CCWW did an amazing job on our deck and handicap ramp. The job was complicated due to plumbing supply, underpinning issues and old tree stumps that appeared out of nowhere. Mike and his crew of dedicated professionals were clear & timely with communication, were diligent in each step of the lengthy process and always left our property clean and tidy at the end of each work day. This extensive project required 3 C.O.A. inspections and each passed with flying colors. In fact, after one inspection, the Inspector knocked on my front door to tell me what an excellent and beyond requirements CCWW's crew was doing. My husband and I are thrilled with the finished product AS WELL AS the process to get there. Rare indeed these days.

Mike and his fabulous crew took on a large project at my residence which entailed replacing a lot of old wood around the windows of my 1964 Northwest Hills home, plus repainting the entire exterior top to bottom. Not only did they do a fantastic job, Mike had his crew really organized in terms of scheduling the work in the proper order, taking detailed notes and photos, and letting me know of any additional issues as they came up. Every house project always spawns more ideas for changes and Mike was super helpful in doing some interior work (removing some old doors and creating archways), and even did a great job power washing my standing seam metal room when it came into my mind that maybe that needed to be done. He is currently helping me select and go through the process of replacing my front door as well as installing some sliding doors that lead from the kitchen to the patio & outdoor living area. I was replacing old siding and I knew there would be unknown issues when it came down and Mike was prompt and communicated clearly the issue, fix and costs. Mike G and his crew helped repair my deck which started collapsing in slow-motion after the February freeze in Austin. It turned out that almost all of the support pillars had succumbed to moisture rot long ago and weren't really holding much weight! CCWW were the only contractors I spoke with who gave me a detailed, itemized estimate. We found additional items after taking the deck apart and all of these new details were explained to me and documented as well. The project took 3+ weeks and the end cost was a bit higher than expected but totally worth it -- I feel safe with my kids & dogs playing out in our back yard again. Thanks, Mike!

I had a great experience working with CCWW on my covered porch. I had initially contacted them for a repair to the existing structure, but Mike was able to point out a number of other issues with the structure that would invalidate the repairs within a few years. CCWW worked on a project recently to replace all of the siding, windows, and the front door on our house and some other repairs including painting the new siding. Mike and his crew were professional and great to work with. I was especially impressed with their excellent craftsmanship and attention to detail. Even though parts of our wall framing was not straight from when it was originally built, they were able to improvise and fix it so the horizontal planks went on perfectly flat and it came out great looking. There were a few other issues related to how the house was built that came up but they always figured out a solution so the finished product would look great and stand up to the weather. Mike kept us well informed on everything from the time I received the quote until the final walk through at the end. He always kept us up to date on what they were working on each day during the project and consulted us whenever a decision was needed on how we wanted something to look. They also stayed on schedule even though it rained a few days and we decided to get some additional unplanned repairs done during the project. Mike takes great pride in his work and makes sure every step of the project is done right and it shows. In the end, our house looks brand new and beautiful. CCWW has done nearly a dozen home improvement projects: a wonderful enclosure for a 12x60 2nd story deck at Lake Travis; building a well-house for an on-site water well there as well; fence construction at my previous home on Lake Travis and another fence and 2 extra gates at my present home and several landscape, drainage control projects at both locations. The owner, Mike Griffin, is personable, courteous, a good listener and adviser - he helps you get to where you want to be with your project, within your budget. This was a complex project that i took out to bid and had 6 companies review. 3 of the companies turned it down as being too complex or large for their crew. The reason i chose Mike's team was the level of detail in his analysis and estimate. he spent 3 hours prior to even starting the project onsite measuring and looking at the space. Project started on time with a large crew. We did have many rain delays, but his crew would come in for part days and Saturdays or Sundays to try and catch-up. in the end the project was completed better than i expected and at a very high quality. Cedar Park Window Replacement project is our home. Excellent results again from Mike & CCWW! This project presented several challenges due to the original builder's lack of precision in details. Mike and his crew handled each issue expertly. The results are gorgeous! Level and plumb and trimmed detail really improved the quality of our home. A specific example: The master bedroom bay windows were originally installed with sheetrock openings at odd wavy angles. And the three window sills were at slightly different heights from the floor - almost an inch overall variance. Capitol City's solution was to install the windows level to each other and plumb in the space. Then they rebuilt the window openings to fit the now properly installed windows. To cover the area where the corrections were made, they designed picture-fame 1x4 moldings. These really dressed up the windows and set the Master suite apart! Made it a very special retreat. I have referred Mike to countless clients over the years and completely trust him. His jobs turn out right.

If you are looking to have wood work done, let me tell you about my experience and why you should work with Michael. First of all, if you're just looking for something quick and dirty and you want to skip permits and cut corners, probably not the guy you call. I am a very picky, extremely detail-oriented person. I have high expectations, and I get really mad when people tell me they're going to do something and they don't do it. I also think that too few people nowadays don't take pride in their work. Michael exceeded all of my expectations. Here are some details. We were having exterior decks on the upper and lower level of a condominium complex rebuilt. Over the course of a long period of time I tried to meet with an interview no fewer than eight different contractors. A number of them didn't even show up to the appointment, and those that did so they have a quote back to me soon and 5 days later I had to follow up. also, most of them told me that I didn't need permits or could do this or could do that. Then I met Michael at Capital City Woodworks. After meeting him, we signed to move forward. As a commercial property, we had a very complex process of having to get permits and engineered drawings. Michael helped us throughout the entire time. He led the process with us and kept us informed all along the way. After long rain delays, they got started on the job. They did everything the way you hope people would do it. They took time and care with everything they did. Top quality materials, top quality craftsmanship, and they even did things above and beyond that I didn't ask for in terms of trim and finish out. They didn't just slap up a deck, they even sanded down the rough corners and truly made it beautiful. They were not the least expensive quote that I received, but they also were not the most expensive. And, I'm not sure it's possible to have done a better job so I honestly feel like I got the very, very best job at a very good price. So, if somebody asked me to list the things that I experienced in working with capital city Woodworks, here's my list: 1 Responsible 2 honest 3 detail oriented 4 do what they say they're going to do 5 high quality work 6 above and beyond expectations 7 knowledgeable 8 actually left the work site cleaner than how they found it I could go on but you get the picture. I had a 400 sf deck built in 2015. I have since noticed that some of the ends of the deck boards were starting to bend upward. I then noticed that there weren't any screws at these locations and others. Mike came out and made it right. The deck really turned out nice.

We have a 4000+ sf deck. It was in dire need of refurbishing but power-washing and painting were not going to help. Most of the wood needed replacing. It was a humongous job. CCWW just completed a fence replacement project at our home. When Mike Griffin (owner) came over to provide an estimate, he was very informative about various aspects of the fence construction, providing pros and cons to specific choices. He listened to what we wanted in a finished project, and advised accordingly. Based upon our decisions, he was able to guarantee that the job would not exceed his estimate. I hired them to replace my siding and repaint my home. They did a great job. They were attentive to details and kept the work site clean and orderly during the job. Before the job started, Mike was diligent about pointing out potential unknowns that could alter the original job specs. (My house is almost 40 years old.) Once work commenced, he communicated any issues that arose and was flexible in working out the best solutions. They even worked a weekend when weather impacted the job schedule. This was a major renovation of an existing deck--involving (1) a demolition of a large horizontal structure (approx 358 sq ft of deck boards & stair trends), (2) the retention and strengthening of vertical structures (existing pergola & deck frame/support joists), (3) the replacement of most of the outer lattice & all of the railing. Also, finishing off with total re-staining. Planning & design by Mike Griffin went smoothly, as he is very experienced and a good communicator. His crew worked hard and their work was meticulous. The results were beyond my expectations.

We had the following work done by Capitol City Wood Works: Remove the ugly popcorn ceiling, retextured the ceiling, and paint it. Paint the interior of the house and the kitchen cabinets. All of this work had to be done before we moved into our house within a very short timeframe. They completed the work ahead of time so we could move in as planned. The workmanship was excellent and we will definitely recommend Capitol City Wood Works and we would hire Capitol City Wood Works again.

The project consisted of a 420 s.f. deck with railing. The contractor was very professional throughout the project, including the proposal phase, construction and final inspection. All of the workers on the project were very polite and professional. They provided me with a finished product that is well built and beautiful. I would definitely hire this company again.

Michael Griffin and his amazing crew came to my rescue when my partner suffered a stroke and we needed our house remodeled for wheelchair access. Rather than waiting until he had a block of time available for the whole job, he fit us into his busy schedule. This way our remodel was finished before other crews would have even been able start! We had both bathrooms remodeled for wheelchair access with the larger one completely transformed. Not only are they beautiful but when David's therapist reviewed all of the work in the house he pronounced it "Perfect for wheelchair accessibility". The work we had done included widened doors for both bathrooms, plus a brand new back door, toilets replaced to be ADA compliant, roll-in shower, a raised bathroom countertop, cabinet restructured to meet his right arm only use, new tile in bathroom, hallways, and living room, five sturdy and attractive wheelchair ramps, beautiful molding replacing the outdated stuff we had around our vanity mirrors, and wonderful new paint in both baths. The most unusual feature in our home now, thanks to George Ashcraft (Capitol City Wood Works' ace carpenter), are custom designed furniture grade gates and interior fencing. We board little dogs in our home and previously had gates and fencing that were not compatible with wheelchairs. This fencing is beautiful and so sturdy that David uses it to steady himself while practicing walking!!

Capitol City Wood Works did a wonderful job of installing Hardi siding, along with 4 windows and a sliding door, and replacing a large section of cedar fence for me. The professionalism with which they did the work was impressive. Each of the crew was very detail-oriented and respectful of the image I had of the final picture. They finished a huge job in half the time I expected it to take, corrected my home's flaws, and left me with a beautiful result. I contacted CCWW as a result of a review I saw of them. Mike responded to my request for a quote promptly and was able to come out at a convenient time to take measurements and work up a quote for me as well as for a job I would need to work with neighbors on. Mike's quote was the best for the deck project I wanted and he was able to get a team out to start within a couple days of accepting the bid. He had originally said it would take 4 days but his crew was done in under 2. The deck and fence section they build is solid and looks great. I'd definitely use CCWW again.

CCWW completed the following at my house : pressure washed my whole house, entryway and driveway, built a 10' x 20' pergola, repaired and repainted the porch ceiling, replace front and rear entry doors, painted all windows and door frames, repaired and painted the entire facia of the house. In all of these jobs, his crew did an excellent job to my satisfaction. His price was very reasonable and the quality of work was excellent. The crew was extremely conscientious, well behaved, and developed a good working relationship with me. I would definitely use CCWW again and would not hesitate to recommend them to my friends.

CCWW was excellent through the bidding process to the completion of the job. I received a bid to replace 4 windows, power wash mold off of the house/patio, fix/repair all of the exterior trim/soffit/fascia, and then paint the house. He took his time fully explaining all my repair options with both the pros and cons of each choice. He NEVER tried to up sale me on any work. His workers were professional and took their time unlike other contractors I've used before. After completion of the job, we did a full walk around before final payment to make sure both parties were happy. Very easy to work with and can't wait to start my next project with him.

I was so blessed to have called Capitol City Wood Works! They built a beautiful fence and then when they stained it, there was obviously a problem. We soon figured out that the paint company gave us the wrong stuff and it turned the beautiful fence into a less than desirable one. But because of the kind of owner Mike Griffin is, Capitol City Wood Works took a ton of time to remove the bad stain and restain it to the correct color! We are so thrilled with the way it looks and owe Capitol City Wood Works a huge THANK YOU!! They have the integrity you so hope for in a contractor but yet rarely find. Excellent job building my fence, deck work for clients. The top of my fence is a nice straight line. The wood is quality Cedar, pressed tight against the next picket, and stained so it retains the natural wood color. The third stringer made the fence stronger. It has been a few years and it still looks great! The workmanship of Mike's crews on the decks he has done for my clients is excellent. It is always nice when someone thanks you for recommending a professional.

I needed some repairs done to the exterior wood on my house. There was water damage, and some prior repairs were not up to standard. Top that with I'm listing my house in a week. I found Capitol City Woodworks through another app. I contacted them, and within the day Mike Griffin called me back. I told him my situation, and he was at my place within 24 hours to quote. And a very reasonable quote too. He and George pushed me to the front to accommodate my house listing. They went above and beyond. I am very impressed with their work, professionalism, and attention to detail. I will be recommending them to anyone I know that needs woodwork, and I'll be keeping them at the front of the list when I need wood work repairs. Great job.
