We are absolutely thrilled with the renovation of our California Bungalow, designed by Rebecca Naughtin Architects. Working with Rebecca, lead architect Reece Julian and the team has been a pleasure from our very first meeting and throughout the design and construction phase. We loved our fortnightly meetings with the builders (Resicon), Reece, Andrew and Rebecca and always felt that we were in very good hands. The brief was for an open plan kitchen, dining and living area enabling light and views into our rear garden and beyond to the leafy plane trees in a nearby street. In the fusion of the old and new, a delightful transition has been achieved that takes us into a light filled modern living space and a bold and functional kitchen with soaring ceilings. It is hard to believe that this is our home! As well as creating a beautiful and elegant design, RNA provided many suggestions along the way from light fittings, to the colour of the grout … little things can make a huge difference! Some special features that we love; the black Paperock and blackbutt kitchen island, the reeded glass windows, the architectural black door handles, the integrated garden studio/workshed, the coral colour scheme in our new study and there are many, many more. Rebecca and her team have been on a multi year journey, that oddly started on Christmas day 6 years ago! Rebecca guided us through two distinct phases of work, with unique (and some not so unique) challenges on a tight, inner city site that we wanted to completely overhaul for our family. Our experience was unlike most builds with the first phase handled as owner builders undertaking significant structural work, seperated by a few years followed by an extraordinary professional builder (Standout Projects) to complete our vision. Rebecca and her team adapted their engagement style and approach in each phase, during the former providing specific guidance and counsel to an inexperienced self practitioner (me) and in the latter, complete project management and creative execution. Rebecca's approach required great creativity and imagination to extract every square centimetre of space while reflecting who we were - embracing detail, light and intelligent storage. This creativity also extended to problem solving outside aesthetics and function. Rebecca and the team pushed the build team to deliver bespoke solutions where required and to quickly adapt to new circumstances and conditions. She always listened to our feedback and was skillful in meeting the capricious nature of our council while staying true to what we wanted to achieve. I met Rebecca about 9 years ago through work and about 3 years ago decided she would be the one to design our forever home for my wife and I, along with our (then 2, now) 3 children and 2 dogs. I was amazed and reassured with the level of data collection from us by her to gain what she and her team needed to come up with the skeleton of the house design. It was a fun process and great to get to know her lovely team. We're literally days from handover and we could not be happy! It ticks every single box we had and many more we didn't think we'd need or want. My advice for anyone thinking about building is trust the architect. We trusted Rebecca and she delivered in droves! Would I do it again, absolutely. But I live in the best house in Gippsland now........

Rebecca Naughtin and her wonderful team have just completed the transformation of our terrace house from a small, cute old cottage to a sophisticated and spacious home with a new lease of life that has lost none of its charm. We have recently had the pleasure of working with Rebecca and her team to renovate and extend our home. Our brief was to create a design that complemented the heritage aspects of our home whilst adapting the design to meet modern living requirements. We engaged RNA for the design process, (a process managed by remote control as we were living offshore at the time); council and regulatory approvals; tenders; managing the building contract; and finally integrating indoors with outdoor living space. Rebecca really listened to what we wanted; and provided creative ideas that have really made living in our home a great pleasure. Her attention to detail made the permit and subsequent building process flow easily. She was always available to us, providing guidance; and working with our builder and trades to deliver in what was a seamless process. We simply couldn’t be happier with the outcome- we’ve been living in our home now for 12 months and we love it.

Many architects turned away at our small budget, but Rebecca gave us hope that we could achieve what we wanted and found creative ways to design a home that not only looks stunning, but is practical, light and spacious.
