Top Kitchen Ideas
Love this designer's quirky style. How do I build some of it into my kitchen? The cabinets to left are promising -- on top, open bookshelves flanked by cupboards for dishes, which I would probably use glass for. A line of shallow drawers below the counter for cutlery, linens, utensils. Doors below that for appliances, bowls, food. And moving to the right, the uppers stop and free the counter for use.
Good hutch ideas: To right, glass-doored cabinets for dishes, with shallow cutlery drawers beneath, and doors below that (or use deeper drawers) for appliances or pots. Note that wall of cabinets is not symmetrical. 2 left-side units have counter between uppers and lowers, which I need for small appliances.
Very attractive and capacious storage of everyday dishes in a shallow space: Upper cabinetry is low to counter, so eye level storage is maximizes, but there's still clearance on the counter for small appliances. Cup hooks under uppers allow mug storage. A very tight shelf under the uppers allows storage of cups, bowls -- or my glassware. Glass doors and many short shelves maximizes storage of dishes.
Hutch-like cabinets on both sides of doorway. Bottoms include drawers, doors, and open shelves.
Hutch-like cabinet looks really. nice. Mix of glass-doored and open shelves at the top, open for cookbooks, bowls and maybe wine glasses.
Shallow cabinet on the end of a wall of cabinets. Great use of space.
Pullout counter with small appliances -- for coffeemaker, coffee mill, kettle, toaster
Just 12" at the end of the counter provides a huge amount of storage -- because it's shallow.
Shallow lower cabinets.
Hutch-like cabinet, about 6' long and 12" deep. This replaces all upper cabinets.
Interior window from non-kitchen side.
Rounded shelves at end of counter
Really attractive passthrough. No photo from DR side. Is it the wood counter or the lamp or higher ledge, or what, that makes this more attractive than most?
Open stairs to basement in the kitchen.
Stove and fridge wall -- stove with short cabinet/counter on each side, and large cutout above stove, presumably with fan above. Very workable, if I'm willing to have the same narrow aisle I have now.
Very narrow u-shaped shadows kitchen. Black Counters on either side of stove are very useful despite being corners. Narrow doors to lower cupboards in the corners -- how accessible? Looks much better than I'd expect such a crowded kitchen to look.
This interior window works partly because the windows open into an alcove. I could probably have them open into the kitchen, above the counter. They look nice here, but I'm not sure they'd look as nice completely open, in my dining room, with no alcove.
Blackboard on fridge. Narrow shelf under the upper cabinets, like I had in Brampton.
I would love something like this for my current hall closet -- doors above and drawers beneath.
Half-wall behind stove, to back stairs.
