Home Office Layout and Style
LOL! THIS IS MY HOUSE! The way it was decorated as the model. It is beautiful. Unfortunately - being in IT - the layout and furniture that shows so nicely here isn't very practical for me to use on a day to day basis....which is WHY I'm on Houzz looking at how others have designed their offices, and kept them looking like a home. I do love the rustic, look of this desk!
This is it. I don't know if the room I have is the right dimensions. But the style fits the house, and I'm good with it too (even if ideally I would rough it up a bit :)). LOVE the extra space behind the desk for computer work. LOVE the casual couch. Love the colors. NOT in love with the rug...but that is all.
I like the idea of a glass desk (not the smudges). I also really like how it's modern, but because of the natural elements (blinds, wood lamp, floors, plant) it's warm. I also like how the desk is show as the top is above the window sill. This is a problem I would have if I put my desk there. Of course - I have a wood desk with full back, which might make it more obtrusive than this open style glass/chrome desk. anyway - I like some of these elements, so keeping for reference.
I really like the book shelves. And the idea of the desk starting against the wall between them is interesting. What would be the best use of that space? Not sure - but it would be convenient to run cords along the bottom of the desk top and hide them against the wall. Having the two sides is interesting too. What if one were for work, one for personal?? Likely not.
bookshelves - behind desk - maybe 5 ' high -large pics on top. I also like the arching floor lamp as a sort of "overhead" light!
