T- Got it. Agreed. Hmmm. Let me look up that vinyl style wood floor. I think it may seal tighter and not have the spill issue. We can do stained cabinetry with laminate... just have to have enough contrast between the two. Either one in a white-wash (shows light graining, knots and texture but overall an off white look) or one in a tone, like pale blue.) S-HATE black and white, but realizing that I don't like different colored wood. So, if we have wood stained maple cabinets (that's what Larry is going to use so no price break between stain or paint) then I don't want another wood floor laminate, unless it is the same. Chris wants wood laminate floor (will that be okay with kitchen spills? Can we find one that won't look totally fake?) so I think we'll need to paint the cabinets.
T- Got it. Layout only. Yes. This is similar to how yours would look. I really think having a big clear window in there will help with your kitchen light. Just close a blind/curtain if you need privacy. Also, will there be a door to that laundry room? I think the opening could be widened possibly? If a door, I would do a glass door to maintain light, but offer screening from the laundry chaos. S-I kind of like the tile and the set up for this could be similar to our little room, which louver window replaced? Do not like the cabinet stain/paint whatever it it, and not super stoked about the counter top material either.
T- Yes. Those are some big windows! Also notice how the outside becomes the focal point when everything else is neutral. It's like the walls don't exist. This is something we can play with regarding paint colors. Some colors come forward and others recede when looking at a space. Green recedes. The living space may be a good place to use that trick. S-Don't like the modern look, but love the connection to outside
T- Also it has those open beams you like. S-Like openness, crispness, floor, don't like countertops
T-Wow. Yeah, that sofa is IN the kitchen! S-Similar layout, maybe a little too connected to the livingroom
T- You seem to really be drawn to the crisp feel of white cabinetry. I do think it will help with the lighting issue. S-Nice crispness, floors too dark, don't really like countertops
T- Lets look at getting a nice sturdy wooden screen door for the front door. It allows the door to become a window without compromising the security. S-lovely flow through and connection to outside
like crispness, openness, floor, don't like cabinets
T- No contrast or separation between walls and floors. S-I don't hate this, but still missing something
T- YES! Those walls are whitewash! :) It would look similar to the right side of this pic, just swap whats cabinetry and what is wall, in your brain. S-How does whitewash look with painted walls?
T- Kitchen only or entire great room? Did you see the link to the vinyl floor... it should be in my idea book for you. S-Wondering if we should go wood counter and tile floor in kitchen?
