awerdna2002's ideas
look at these slats. nice and wide (though not very long). I am thinking that because these are walls of a deck they need to be beefier than normal window slates. For example, the slats on my windows now are 2.5" tall by 20" long. Fine for a window blind, too wimpy for what is essentially a wall that I can open if I choose
might be too busy, but the parquet-like floor could allow for moveable tiles for roof maintenance. And i want to have a way to access the roof in the even of leakes, as roof maintenance sometimes seems like a sisyphean task. You know, like moving into a house. Gonna be soon, soon, soon, soon. But soon never gets here. Am I doomed to spend eternity pushing the house boulder up the remodeling mountain?
ha! that (former) stud is stuck with his boring wife and annoying mother-in-law. And all he can do it sit and think, "I built this deck to nail so many hot babes, and now look at me... I kinda hope the fire pit spills and takes us with the house" FYI- someday I hope to be lucky enough to actually have a house that can burn down with me in it. someday... someday...
this looks very cool. skip the flowers (maybe have greenery instead). and i dunno where i'd store the cushions, cuz i'd have to take them away before it rained and all winter, right? If i could solve that issue this is good... fire, covering, comfy, green. this picture has put me in such a happy mood that I am not going to make a sarcastic "get me into my damn house" comment, and instead just let it rest. I lied. GET ME INTO MY DAMN HOUSE!!
not saying we should necessarily do the horizontal slats, but we need to figure out how to open up the space more while keeping privacy. what about making some walls like big shutters so we can open if we want? just trying to think how to keep it from being so closed in. no rush on figuring this all out. i won't be moving in till 2018 I figure
having a moveable covering would be good but i worry about rain/snow runoff plus will our climate make it look crappy after a year or two. when you get a chance please get me one of these moveable coverings that i can use on my cardboard box on lower wacker drive, as i'll be living there for several months SINCE MY HOUSE WILL NEVER BE FINISHED
so on the upper left are those awning things that could be practical. not sure you would think they look good though. plus i'm worried about ice/rain collection and them getting dirty and looking shitty over time. So now I'm agonizing over them. Oh, and I NEED TO GET MY FAT ASS INTO MY SWEET HOUSE SOON!
This is closer to what I want. I could live here (though would need a padded table to put my feet on). And while, as a former chemical engineer, I appreciate the significant amount of energy being released by combusting fossil fuels, I'm not sure i'm big on all these skinny gas fireplaces that are in like every other picture on here.
Wall is cool, but the coffee table is not practical. I want to put my feet up, preferrably on a comfy padded thing. So I guess skip any thoughts of coffee tables. And the couches are not the type you would lounge in for a good movie night. I want to live in my room, not show it off to douchebag guests.
This might look cool but it is NOT what I want. Too manly, and not even in a good way. If I was some old-school US Senator I might like this. But it is too over the top for me.
Oh man, check out this ceiling!
This pic reminds me: I will have a lot of sports stuff in the basement, including around the bar area. The basement should be sports-themed. Cubs, Bears, Hawks. Nothing else.
I like the 2 level bar top, Not the rest though
Ugly-ass chairs, and the black/red is ugly. but I like the hanging glass holder thing and the concept of the back with the cubes lit from behind
i like the ceiling above the bar (I have something like this now)
I like having places for liquor or other things to be displayed, and lit up. Optional bottom lighting (turned of separately from the top) would be nice I would think
Not sure if i like this or not. Interesting though
This is interesting, and it's in Chicago so they have solved the snow issue somehow. I think maybe the little roof thing is moveable in some fashion. I care less about blocking rain and more about blocking sun as me and the sun don't get along too well
I don't know what this semi-roof thing is called but we shoudl maybe have one of those for a portion
A built-in bench could be interesting
oooohhhh... underneath lighting. Nice. I guess ignore the rest. And I do NOT want a cloth thingie hanging over stuff, as it will just collect leaves and snow and god knows what else
I like the semi-covering on this deck. It would be nice to have something like this on at least a portion of mine
Cool wall and ceiling. Everything else is ugly
This is what I do not want. This is more show. For the family room I want comfort. I will be living in my family room and kitchen
Ignore the layout. Look at the cat. Is this whole house just for the cat? WTF
This is cool, especially the lighting BUT I want a thing I can put my feet on instead of a coffee table. Kinda like what I have now in my family room. Cuz I really like putting my feet up
Kinda cool
Cool lights. Interesting glass front cabinets up top (I could display stuff there... Though I guess I have plenty of glassed display cabinets in those columns)
Cool backsplash and lights
These are interesting. Although I guess I am indifferent to where the dishes go. I do want to have solid (non see thru) cabinet doors as I don't want to have to have all my dishes arranged super nice just to put them away
I do not like this. Too busy. Just an example of what I don't wanr
This is kinda cool
OMG... Doesn't this picture just make you want to punch somebody? (By the way, ignore this one for design purposes... Just venting some repressed anger)
This is what I don't want. Too white and sterile
This looks pretty cool
i really like underneath lighting (done in a way that when bulbs burn out they are replaceable, so not rope lighting). lights under cabinets (both upper and lower cabinets) are super cool i think.
this is cool But now that i think about it, if i have dark floors i can't have dark cabinets. so lemme look for more stuff
this looks cool. maybe too dark. nice backsplash
i don't like the kitchen but the hanging lights are cool
very cool. But probably not functional enough. I want to have a the ability to have lots of light by the mirrors when wanted (for shaving). Plus one of those lit-up mirrors that you pull out that makes everything look bigger
Not a fan of the openness, but the showerhead is cool, and there are extra nozzles too.
This is pretty dope. Needs shower heads on the side though
Not sure about marble countertop or white stools but the rest looks good. I like the lights over the table
I don't like the glass top but the rest looks cool
Cool room
Is that a grey wall paint? Looks nice. I like this bedroom
if these slats come with that chick, please order these slats.
