quartzite should not scratch w/glass (the quartzite itself shouldn't have a scratch mark). take that piece you're holding and run it over a glass tile. if it scratches the glass, it's quartzite. it if leaves behind a dust trail w/no scratch, you've got some marble. You also have to understand that marble deposits may be in the quartzite itself. The makeup of each slab might vary
Thats why you demand to see the slab, and are present at the templating. So you see what you are getting. As I stated nobody likes surprises, and this one is really avoidable. Samples are samples, they can be different batchs, sun bleached (sometimes in days), etc, etc.
Countertops: Quartzite - natural stone seen under the names 'Monte Carlo' , 'Mother of Pearl' and 'Madre Perle'. Harder (and more brittle) than granite. This particular quartzite does not appear to etch.
FLW inspired - Counter is quartzite from Brazil called Chocolate Bamboo
The countertop is Polished Wasabi Granite, which we complemented with honed soapstone around the sink. The island cabinets are made of paint grade maple, painted "Island Stream." The backsplash is a stacked stone called "Brick Delhi," according to our records. It is a 4" x 16" stacked stone that is installed without grout, a plus for easy maintenance.

this is nice and would work but we'd need to get rid of some green in on our walls. I think the reason it doesn't appeal more to me is because I'm over that sage green color.
definitely bold! but a good example of dark counters on cabinetry and light colors on island
Not in love with this overall kitchen, but another example of how blue contrasts nicely with the warm wood, breaking up the orangey-ness.
counters are nice, also love how some of the cabinets are glass front....their linear/window pane style reminds me of FLW mission.
Per Houzz: The cherry cabinetry pairs seamlessly with the hardwood flooring, creating a natural and uniform look. This allows the eye to travel up to the organic and striking backsplash. CEM: ALTHOUGH I DON'T LIKE THIS BACKSPLASH (MAINLY B/C OF COLOR), BUT THIS GIVES ME APPRECIATION FOR THE IMPORTANCE OF ONE THAT HAS MORE ELEMENTS OF DESIGN AND TEXTURE. ALSO THE ISLAND COLOR....NOT SURE ABOUT IT, BUT MAYBE A DARK ISLAND NOT SO BAD? WHAT ABOUT BLUE ISLAND WITH SHADES OF BLUE IN BACKSPLASH?

blue island with orangey cabinets?? SEE PREVIOUS PHOTO I SAVED. I think the idea of this is interesting....ie: doing the island or backspash in a blue who's cool tone contrasts with the warm wood will break up all the orange. This backsplash is apparently grey, though.
counters with orangey cabinets and floors...I like the blue back splash and the off white counters. Cool blue contrasts nicely with the warm wood, breaking up the orangey-ness.

Another example of colored cabinets with orangey floors
Sage cabinets with orange-y floors?
Maybe this color cabinets and countertops for our dark orangey kitchen?? Not sure because seems like it might make it even darker
island shape
pie shaped island
pie shaped island for small kitchen
Lights? Too bell shaped?
SO similar to ours! (except the floor)
good ideas here
countertop - Description says: Granite-quartz hybrid perimeter countertops
