7. Sort through baby clothes to make a memory quilt. Even if you’re not a quilter yourself, you can hire someone locally to use the fabric you provide to create a one-of-a-kind keepsake quilt. Sift through all those boxes and bins of saved baby clothes and pull out the most meaningful and lovely pieces to include in the quilt — just imagine how wonderful it would be to enjoy using those sweet little clothes again, instead of hiding them away in a box!
6. Finally put loose photos in albums. Dig out a box of photos you haven’t gotten around to sorting, have a stack of blank albums at the ready, and hold a photo-organizing session solo or with family. To get through a lot of photos in a single afternoon, keep your albums simple, with just a few notes about the people and places featured.
Farmhouse Dining Room by Titan Homes Titan Homes SaveEmail 1. Make a meaningful display. The walls in this dining room feature framed recipes from the homeowner’s grandmother, hung alongside treasured family heirloom serving dishes and other favorite pieces. Create your own meaningful display for the holidays and beyond by framing a favorite family recipe (handwritten is best!) or collection of china. For a twist on this idea, try decoupaging a handwritten recipe (use a photocopy if you want to preserve the original) onto a plate or platter to create a unique and personal art piece.

Project: Leaf print placemats. This is a quick and fun project perfect for casual autumn and winter gatherings, and it can be done with children if you like. You’ll need a batch of freshly fallen leaves and evergreen sprigs, paper placemats, a tray or baking sheet for holding paint, and tempera or craft paint in your chosen color. Experiment with dipping your leaves and making prints on plain paper first to get the hang of it. If you want to make a permanent version, you can repeat the steps using fabric paint on plain cotton or linen placemats. You may need to launder or press the placemats before the first use, so be sure to check the fabric paint manufacturer’s instructions. (See also bookmarked article.)
8. Frame beach finds. Shells, sand dollars, sea glass and small pieces of driftwood take on special significance when mounted on smooth linen in a big frame. If you’re using your own finds, consider including a small, neatly written label at the bottom with the place and date you found your treasures.

Choosing an object to collect can make visiting those summer flea markets and antiques fairs more fun, so why not come up with your own item to collect? Enamel pitchers, blue glass bottles, toy boats, seaside-themed art … the options are limitless. Attic Antics SaveEmail 5. Turn memories into unique art. If you like the idea of scrapbooking but rarely find the time to complete an album, this could be a satisfying project to undertake. Choose a photo with personal meaning for you (use a copy if you’re worried about damaging the original), a map of an area related to the photo, crafts store letters and a few small, meaningful objects. Arrange and glue them onto card stock, or place inside a shadowbox for a unique display.
