Hmmm. How are those blues working for you?
Kind of generic resort styling, but the color scheme might appeal to you.
Notice how a light sofa and rug brighten the room. See the little pop of pale blue on the bench under the window?
Rug and sofa are best in light. Blues are pale. Stronger blues would bring out the orange tones in the paint. Blue and orange are complementary colors which look more vivid next to each other. I find the coffee table too visually heavy.
light sofa/rug with pale blue pillows, chairs and lamps. The use of orange in the painting is really enjoyable but in a very subtle, sophisticated way. Having a VERY large painting in these colors over the fireplace would bring blues to that wall and “speak” to the oranges in the wood tones in the kitchen and walls. Dab of green communicates with outdoors. Buy a huge canvas and start pouring!
The heavier colors of the sofas and rug (as opposed to whites) add to the rustic tone of this room. Be reminded of this if a beige sofa tempts you.
Ignore style of furniture. Just compare colors. Gotta be careful with blue in the upholstery.
I think these curtains are a bit much, but you could sew a pale blue or turquoise band (perhaps 12”) to the bottoms of your existing curtains and save a bundle instead of buying all new curtains. A blue burlap would add texture for a more casual look or use something with a sheen for glam
Death by warm neutrals. ?
Peeps need plants
Ignore traditional style and look at colors
To appreciate what black adds to a room, imagine these pillows in watery blues, and a brightly colored painting over the fireplace. I think you have black in the valance over your kitchen sink
Ignore the style. Look at all the warm tones, even though the couch is pretty “light.” Do you find that all-warm palette appealing?
Stools or ottomans are great for board games around the coffee table. Their low profile doesn’t cut off your view. AND they can add texture, color and interest at a lower cost than chairs — usually.
Imagine if the rug and couch were lighter. Heck, even if just the rug were really light this room would improve significantly.
Too contrived and controlled for every day life, but look how much the least expensive things in the room —pink flowers and greenery— add to it.
These peeps are sticking with warm tones. Their pops of color are the red pillows. Hmmm. Ignoring their taste in furniture, how do you like the colors?
Pretty rustic, but successful mix of blues with warm textiles. The cooler “greige” wall color is more welcoming to the deeper blues in the upholstery and also brings out the grays in the stone.
Very restrained! Did the designer go wild with that blue throw on the chair?
Rustic lightened up with lighter upholstery choices. Bravo.
Imagine with pale blue ottoman/coffee table and a little more color in the throw pillows. Maybe a super thick nearly white shag rug and bigger, more colorful art. Would you like it better?
Quite a mix of styles with all that black iron around. Just a reminder that a room can be successful without adherence to a prescribed style. AND just in case you and Oscar have some masculine pieces leftover from college days, you might see how to work them in. ?This room isn’t something I would choose, but it still works.
Complementary colors in action in neutral/natural setting. Very playful. Cautionary example unless you are going for something that vibrant.
Very sophisticated use of color. Muted tones would all wear well. Can you envision some changes to make the room more youthful? Clue in next photo
Look how the citrus colors on the counter add life to the space— and that shiny cello in the hall is a nice pop too
Apt2B is quality brand. Lines are much like your sofa
