Oh Susan YES!!!!!, we need some or one light by the basement door. AND yes, we may want some lights around the patio like this!!! Can they be put on a fader so that we can vary the brightness? we worry about bugs with all the brightness and being seen by everyone driving by. Didn't think of this, glad we have you!! Will there be step lights too??? SY: The Metro, with 18W CFL bulbs or 650-850 lumen output, is going to give you lighting like this out back. It's pretty bright. I like your subtler Nate but at only about 70 lumen output, you will definitely want to supplement by stringing fairy lights of some sort across the porch. I may look for something else like the Nate but just a bit more lumens. Meanwhile, do you want/need outdoor sconces anywhere else? Basement door, garage, front door, bottom of the deck stairs...?
also by Perigold - I kind of like this one but don't know the brand Elan. and it says that it is backlit, is that bad or good?
got it! Susan question. Dave wants a lighted mirror for above this for our powder room, do you like a rectangle better or an oval? I was going to get a light fixture but we are opting for a lighted mirror instead. thanks. we will order this ourselves but just want your designer opinion please :) SY: My gut says rectangle! But pin me your options? There are some nice, and some not-so-nice lighted mirrors out there. :)
BCR & DRR Okay looks good, remember we have a canopy bed!! SY: This one! 44"" Minka Fan in Coal for ensuite bedroom. $319 retail. https://www.lumens.com/simple-outdoor-ceiling-fan-by-minka-aire-fans-MAF1803731.html?utm_source=google&utm_medium=PLA&utm_term=&utm_brand=Minka-Aire&utm_id=MAF1803731&utm_campaign=1440416580&gclid=Cj0KCQjwxJqHBhC4ARIsAChq4av39KN-L5oYGtevBDvPLlZu9Fgaz5uHbgRYZw0HnkXMSh15MvO90boaAvg6EALw_wcB you'd need an addtl downrod but this looks pretty great. https://www.lumens.com/3-4-inch-diameter-downrod-by-minka-aire-fans-PAAAAACBDBKFAPCO.html
SY: this is another way to go for an outdoor light if you'd like the light thrown up and down instead of the fixture shining all around. This isn't a particular fixture, but just an idea for you to respond to.
SY: Framed LED by Modern Forms. Also nice, but I think I'd prefer others more for the price. 10x20". $469 retail.
SY: $240 retail for this glowing beauty. 15"H.
BCR/DRR nice and low-key indicating private entrance: This one is a good if enough light! or the one before this one we also like the Metro. SY: Nate 17 outdoor sconce - more subtle light. Only $218 retail price. SY: follow up: this has too little light, IMO. Only 65 lumens! But I hear you on more subtle. Will look for that, with more lumens.
SY: side view of that Fresno outdoor sconce
SY: these are the Fresno Medium from Circa. We need 3 outdoor sconces on your deck. $379 each, these, and just the right dimensions.
SY: ROOM AND BOARD MODERN FREMONT FLOOR LAMP WITH DRUM SHADE. This is the one I put in your LR image board to begin with - nice and simple with a reasonable price tag of $479. https://www.roomandboard.com/catalog/lighting/floor-lamps/fremont-floor-lamp
BCR/DRR we like this one or the next one which is a little more low key. SY: This is the Metro by Sonneman. $340 retail . Kinda love this. Lumen output 1150.
SY: Ferrelli Floor Lamp by Ellen Degernes. Under $500 retail. Nice and simple. That's a bit of oak on the stem.
BCR/DRR we like this one!!!!l looks good with the ceiling lamps and you mentioned we need the smaller one. The brass will go with the lamp over the piano too. SY: a charming floor lamp from Rejuvenation - the Pepin for $529 retail.
SY: Also saw this Beaumont Floor Lamp at Circa in person in Chiago and loved - but it is $1k retail.
SY: the Irving floor lamp from Arteriors. Gorgeous, seen at High Point. $1300 retail.
BCR/DRR this one, hope it will come out far enough over the piano!! SY: Keil Swing Arm for above the piano. $450 retail. SY: yes, fully extended this reaches 29"! PERFECTO!!
SY: Keil Swing Arm for above the piano - for you to see size in context. I saw this fixture in person in Chicago and loved it. $450 retail price (we get a good trade price from them, I think, so you could save some off that).
NO, won't come over far enough over the piano. sorry SY: Flynn sconce from Serena & Lily - $248 for over the piano. (retail)
SY: Here is the Conical Drum in a larger 24" diameter. While that would work for the larger, tv end of the room, it's too big for the piano end. So I think you get the 17" already posted. Note here the floor lamp too - it's nice. Both from Rejuvenation.
SY: Rejuvenation. 16" Conical Drum Semi Flush Fixture on ceiling: https://www.rejuvenation.com/catalog/collections/16-inch-conical-drum-semi-flush-fixture/products/6027246af6d7f2378339dea7?cm_ven=PLA&cm_cat=Google&cm_pla=default&cm_ite=A4035&gclid=CjwKCAjwy42FBhB2EiwAJY0yQsSPBUyVivbAcNYbZCpfCUBf8o35cZK_GL1xZnYn8YEhYMC1j6jhjBoCUwEQAvD_BwE
BCR/DRR LOOKS great!!!! we will need one for sure!! SY:sonneman perch - this is short. I have it in my house and can show it to you. This is what I showed in your living room image board for next to the blue corner reading chair.
SY: click on image for whole effect, to see where your etsy clock can go.
BCR: Here is the one we purchased and to the right are the dimensions. Britt. SY: got it! I will check against our elevation to make sure DS knows where to build into the wall. Unless this is the same one you already shared with us and we used to create that elevation in the first place?
BCR: picture frame/medicine cabinet dimensions.
BCR: Dave and I bought this on Etsy, no laughing!! we kinda like it corny as it is. 27 inches and handmade in the UK like the old ones. so be thinking about where to put it! it is real teak wood and should be nicely made to look like the originals. SY: fantastic! Did you see where I put something just like that above your tv?? I'll post the rendering.
Britt, I like this!!!!SY: this has 4 bulbs! At 1480 lumens, this may be the brightest solution for you. And is a good size and finish, mid/high level price. Very promising! The Inwood. Overall Depth: 9.5in Overall Width: 18in Overall Height: 15in Backplate Depth: 1.5in Backplate Height: 6in Backplate Width: 4in Center Of Mount From Btm Height: 8in
I've seen this before and LOVE THIS ONE!!!!SY: Cedar Moss Mixed Globe 5 Light Multi Pendant - for over the tub? With the Inwood at the mirrors? Lots of light output in all directions.
I like this too. SY: This could be great. Wish it were in chrome and black. Though maybe we could throw in that bit of brass! 49395 BRONZE H: 26IN W: 22IN D: 8.5IN IN STOCK
SY: Square Tube Double Sconce. This might be the best all things considered. Mid price, good lumens because two bulbs and a light shade. Nice proportions. Height: 14" Width: 15.5" Extension: 7.25" Backplate: 3.75" x 4.5" Rectangle Shade Details: 13.75" x 15.5" x 6.25" Socket: 2 - E12 Candelabra Wattage: 2 - 60 B
SY: Kovacs Fabric Wide LED. Good price and dimensions and (1) 21 Watt (1203 LUMENS) 120 Volt Integrated LED - that's between 1 and 2 standard incandescent 60 watt bulbs. Can only get the off white shade with the black finish. :/ Fixture: Width 16.75", Height 11", Depth 4", Weight 5.47Lbs Shade: Width 17", Height 6.75", Depth 4" Wall Plate: Width 16.25", Height 10.75"
SY: ok, I'll sketch a few and look into pendants over the tub also, and tell you my verdict this afternoon! BR: Susan, I think you should pick!!!! I like this and the other one next to it. Whichever one will give more light. both good picks!! SY: the Hampton is affordable, takes (2) 60 Watt (672 Lumens) 120 Volt E12 Candelabra Base Incandescent Lamp(s) for a total of 1344 LUMENS and is a good size. Shade color says Off White for all finishes. Fixture: Width 15", Height 12", Depth 5.5" Plate: Width 4.5", Height 12"
SY: $500-$600 more for this. I think this is darker because of the shade. BR: I love this design!! what is the price difference between these two? SY: (2) 60 Watt (415 Lumens) 120 Volt E12 Candelabra Base Incandescent Lamp(s) for a total of 830 LUMENS, wider, on the more expensive end. Shade color is "Natural Anna" which makes me think off white. Cosmo: Backplate: Width 5.5", Height 15.8" Fixture: Width 16.5", Height 11.3", Depth 4", Weight 8.2Lbs Shade: Height 3.75"
BR: This is pretty too!! you pick!!! I can't decide. :). Is one bulb enough light?SY: Auray Large. Love this one for ensuite sconce between mirrors. These first four are my favorites, but I like the ones with tails better than the square ones, for filling up that space between mirrors. Takes one 60 watt bulb (approx 800 LUMENS). Height: 28" Width: 13.5" Extension: 6.25" Backplate: 4.5" Round Shade Details: 13.5" x 13.5" x 8" Socket: E26 Keyless Wattage: 60 A
SY: A good, though more expensive, option for more light. This one takes (2) 60W bulbs (approx 1600 lumens). Backplate: Width 4.5", Height 4.5" Fixture: Width 13.5", Height 13.38", Depth 7.25", Weight 2.4Lbs
SY: VERY affordable, and takes (2) 60W bulbs. Dimensions are good. It's just a bit more traditional than the others. Backplate: Width 4.5", Height 4.5" Fixture: Width 13.5", Height 13.38", Depth 7.25", Weight 2.4Lbs
SY: Mitchell. Nice, but more expensive than Auray, a bit smaller (I like the larger dimensions of the Auray), and less light: takes one 40W bulb. All things considered, I think that eliminates this one. Height: 30" Width: 12.5" Extension: 8" Backplate: 4.25" Square Shade Details: 11.75" x 12.5" x 8.25"
SY: Putting this here - the Manhattan - but ruling it out bc the shade on the black options are gray (and can't be swapped for white), so it will not be enough light: Large Option: 16 Watt (527 Lumens) 120 Volt Integrated LED. Affordable and nice size, thought: Large Option Backplate: Width 7.13", Height 12.88" Large Option Fixture: Width 22", Height 13", Depth 3", Weight 9.52Lbs
I agree, like black better. SY: Only comes in chrome, I prefer black between the two walnut mirrors. This is wider than the rest, but only slightly. Very affordable. Takes (2) 43 Watt bulbs, so not as bright as the two shade fixtures above. So, all things considered, I would not do this one. Fixture: Width 16", Height 11.5", Depth 4"
SY: Maaaybe. This is wider than the rest, but only slightly. More expensive, and takes (2) 60W bulbs. I just think it's too rustic for your aesthetic. Fixture: Height 11.5", Width 16.5", Depth 4"
Alexander Semi Flushmount LR idea from Britt. SY: like this a lot, and the price! :) The 13" diameter seems small for the space, however.
Lennon semi flushmount idea from Britt for LR. SY: Like but think we can do better. The 20" diameter is good; would prefer a white shade to linen.
SY: Fulton Flushmount LR option from Britt. SY: this one seems to be trying too hard IMO. Something about those black metal verticals bugs me.
BCR: I love this one!! SY: short pendant over tub
BCR: this is also pretty. SY: modern(ish) pendant over tub
The largest measures 22.5"L x 22.5"W x 20.75"H, while the smallest measures 19.25"L x 19.25"W x 18.25"H.
