Kitchen
While it IS the most expensive Ikea option (just my luck), this is likely still cheaper than most semi-custom cabinets. I like the walnut look and slab doors and all the cool options Ikea offers. Marzio is not so sure since it isn't actual wood on the door facings. It is a laminate with "walnut effect". As a tree nerd, it kinda flies in the face of logic for me to choose something that isn't wood, but damn, I love it so...we'll see.
My planning board for my kitchen! I found a photo of a kitchen with dark cabinets and deep teal walls, so I took the scissors to it and flipped it, putting the walls in as my painted island in the middle of the kitchen and put dark cabinets all around. I won't actually have a lot of cabinets, only 3 uppers, mostly lowers. The cabinets I'll actually use are to the left of the "window", just a tiny thumbnail from the Ikea catalog. Still thinking about the teal island, which will have a dark quartz top, I glued a sample above it. The flooring is a big sample in the middle left. A nice, streaky mix of medium tones. The perimeter countertop will have a lighter quartz top, which should look nice with the walnut cabinets from Ikea, if that's the route I go. I glued a couple of samples on there bc I haven't chosen, but that's the general idea. I will have a light colored backsplash, but I don't really have a sample. I put some gold in there bc that may be the color I paint it, at least at first. On the left is a page that represents a dreamy wall in the giant pantry.
