Seattle Kitchen Remodel: Refrigerator Wall
Option 5: LOVE THIS OUT OF THE ORDINARY IDEA! Flipping things around!! Funky shelves at the top with the old 13" cabinets at bottom (store glassware & cups). Consider WITHOUT the espresso trim on the bottom cabinets. Carry maple up back; Combo maple & espresso or use espresso for shelf material. This format keeps the Maple cabinet consistency at the bottom and top (back of shelves) and avoids the issues associated with the various shelf options. BEST option and most functional!! for cups and glasses storage which is what I want in this area.
ORIGINAL IDEA: THIS IS WHERE I STARTED..... Use 12” depth for upper cabinet using the old microwave cabinets at top. Next....note in this picture, the maple boxes with glass inlaid bottoms for using lights to accent. Using this concept , create 2 adjustable shelves using width of espresso trim (1 inch). Make frame of shelves paint grade of SW BLACK BEAN to match backsplash. Inlay glass & decide how to light. Bring backsplash material all the way up to the upper cabinets. Use these shelves for glass glasses & coffee mugs near refrigerator.
