Rensel Addition
One idea for the sunroom would be to add some passive heating. We discussed a wall with windows to separate the bedroom from the sunroom, while maintaining sight through the sunroom to the bedroom. For this wall, we are considering making it out of stone/concrete to gain some passive heating in the winter. I know thermal mass means density, so the wall would be heavy, but it doesn't have to go to the ceiling. Maybe a nice stone wall feature covering the first 3' of the wall. Then the floor of the sunroom would be about 6-8" with dark textured tile on top. I know this is going to be rough for the design of the floor, but I am offering that if you need to make the floor thicker in the sunroom, you have room to take from the attached garage ceiling. I would accept a 6-8" step that is 12' deep in the garage ceiling below. If this is sounding crazy or presenting too many design challenges, this is a nice-to-have for us.
We are debating putting a narrow terrace outside the sunroom. Maybe 3-4' wide, just enough to put a chair facing the back yard on. The terrace would have a fence for safety. This would be a private area so I wouldn't have a need to make it large, or extend the full length of the sunroom. But, the size would ultimately what would look nice on the backside of the house.
We like this bathroom because the tub and shower are incorporated into the same room. For the master bathroom, I believe this would help save some space with the 7' tube against the south wall, then the shower being positioned north of the tube. Then, the door would lead to the other side of the shower wall for the double sink.
Maybe a style like this.
