Linda's ideas
ANSWER [everyone is doing this but I think unessary because it is going to be a big black flat TV. i8 want to have a real fire. I sure wish I had gas (propane tank?) fireplace. Window on left. What side is piano, the other side has picture and cabinet to hide cables VCRs.} We can build over your fireplace and put a modern looking linear electric fireplace
DECIDED - 1)not this sink, 2)include closets as part of the bathroom starting the bathroom tile at the master bedroom wall 3)can you put a pocket door between the bathroom and the master bedroom? 4) I only need 1 full length mirror I . Like a Japanese spa, perfect serenity with orchids. I like the floor in this and the simple spa look. Or a natural bamboo floor. Rememeber that I am keeping the creme carpet in both bedrooms so the tile in the guest bath and master bath needs to seamlessly harmonize.
Whole new interesting idea. Make the kitchen and dining room all one area. In 20 years no one else will like it but I will like that contemporary Asian Japanese clean lines shoji screen interesting combination would go with asian black idining set. dark grey, light creme white quartz countertops, woodd cabinets are same as the burled wood color. Actually tdhat is the same color as the maple cabinets I have now but the execution is so mish mashed. Maybe mordernized with black island base and light quartz stone countertop, matching backsplash, stainless steel appliances and hardward. In other words, match the dining room set to make it all one area.
DECIDED-no stovetop in island-lwl. Is this really going to work for me to have the stove top in the island just to face the TV and view while I am cooking. I will always have my laptop and paper spread out to the left of the stove top so lose the workspace to chop and then just push it into the sink for cleanup; always having to carry it across the floor to the sink. probablyy a bad idea, always greasy splatters and I tend to use my instapot and electric fryer, and toaster near the stovetop. oh well, novel thought
DECIDED-stainless steel drawer under kitchen sink. Jamie, you are right, I do need a 2 trash bin pullout somewhere, anywhere in the kitchen. I thought i could live with a plastic bin under the sink, but i realize now, I always have the ugly bin out for convenience, and one is not enough even for one person.
YES either this one or the black and white kit that we like natural bamboo flooring. I like the more formal look. Could depend on which one is best with counter quartz top and the Asian dining set. Iwhat do you think of this color for flooring? has a bit of creme and grayish to it. I blends with the quartz stone fire place. Would it look good with my black dining room set. I liked the natural honey oak which had more life to it and a bit of contrast to the black WHereas This is more monotone blending right with the stone fireplace
I LIKE The island top is white and light gray veins, matches the backsplash. Looks good with stainless steel. DONT LIKE the black lampshades. I like the light natural oak floors. Maybe the kit cabinets should be a very light gray or a grayish white to soften the look. NOT TOO stark black and white contrast.
I LIKE I like this modern monotone look. Even the dark walnut simple cabinets even tho today, the trend is white or gray. I think the simple veined marble with some creme and gray like in this picture to pick up the steel hardware, sink, frige, and hood over the island stovetop. could look monotone coordinated with light floors, my white sofa, and th enatural stone grayish creme fireplace. Would the dark walnut work with my Asian black, creme chairs, orangey brown burled wood table top and glass hutch. Use clear glass modern lights and chandelier over the dining room table We could pick up the glass in
DECIDED - Pantry at kitchen entry where there is DEAD corner counter space between the wall and the dishwacher (20" wide). Today I quickly throw the mail, my keys, my handbag, and my dark glasses, it works for me, but it is a messy ugly spot. we thought of doing a narrow pantry. Be sure the shelves are pull out AND in middle I can throw my mail and keep my bills organized. , keys, etc. and sort it. What about the bottom be for verticle space for trays, pans, etc, then shelves (a basket for keys and glases, basket for mail, basket for bills to be paid. Even a basket for my junk drawer. BE SURE the door opens on the right, hinged on the left so I can use the countertop next to the little pantry.
DECIDED Need this somewhere. Next to kitchen entry is DEAD counter space
BAD cabinets too gray. My Asian dining set an hutch is essentially part of the kitchen so cabinets color and style must be harmoneious. Like a light sage gray goes with the black and rich orangey brown burled wood
INFO can this be done with isang seating for 3 people at the end, and islang stove top. I can work, eat, and cook wathing TV and face out to the view. Desk drawers under stove top to quickly hide laptop and papers. Island storage is pretty much non functional because not easily accessed. Good place to put printer, with a light !!! so I can see the buttons. I like these functional island stools - fit entirely under the island, cushions for comfort, LIGHTWEIGHT!!
pantry storage. next to fridge
oven can be anywhere
IGNORE THIS -place for me to sit at kitchen island facint the TV and view. must have slide out shelves to hide my laptop and papers. Serves as my kitchen desk
I LIKE - hide toaster blender hight with outlets and phone chargers
I LIKE THIS under BIG single sink
IGNORE - like island stovetop. but i do not like this hood
3111 has to have island post like this. Get an extra 6" into the hall, lined up even with the edge of the patio door. this would kinda give me 6" more in length for the dining room table
I LIKE floor color and elegant wood surface, not rough country surface
All whit is TOO cold. I do not like gold fixtures
