Mudroom
Removed a closet and replaced it with a bench!!!
Cubbies not as deep as bench. Solar tubes for daylight.
Board and batton on wall frames a cork biard and a white board, WITH WALL-MOUNTED LIGHT FIXTURES ABOVE EACH.
Cubbies short but wide. Two layers of shelves with hooks.
Cubbie opens toward bench seat.
Board and batton on wall behind bench, but not on adjacent walls!
*Cubbies incl a base, on top of the existing floor.
*Triangular trim detail at corners under bench.
*Corner cubbie opens toward bench.
Simple, low bench. Seat is a bit deeper than skirt in front.
*Corbels!
Apply board and batton the wall, but leave a gap for mirror? Use a wide trim piece on the front eddge of the bench to make it look more substantial (the one pictured looks like cheap plywood.)
*Depth of built-ins meets edge of door trim.
*Board and batton style, scaled down; behind bench only. Corbels support upper shelf.
Add board and batton to walls, but have free-standing bench in contrasting color.
Simpler. Bench only. Board and batton lower on wall. Sub in art, mirror abive bench (no hooks).
Built-in near door, wall switches.
Depth of built-ins overlaps where winfow trim should be. Good idea, or bad?
Nice curved trim pieces at the corners of cubbies under bench.
Contrasting color on built-ins.
Shoe cubbies are under bench, but still off the floor. Thick cushion. No hooks.
Compare depth of built-ins to depth of space (under deer): leave a little wall exposed, so it doesn’t feel too crowded.
Garage door is painted a contrasting color, has WINDOWS!
Bench has DRAWERS. Or a hinged benchtop would be good, too. Bench topped by custom CUSHION!!!
Artwork above hooks.
* Board and batton details at back of bench are not as “deep” as we have in our foyer, but for purposes of a bench, less depth is better.
*Lots of open space under the bench, takes up less visual space, easier to clean floor.
* Bench abuts far wall, open end near stairs. Good model for our hallway.
Arched brackets supporting upper cubbies. Space for shoes below.
THICK cushion. Use indoor/outdoor fabric?
Lighting: Sconces. Mirror above.
Lighting: Sconce. Flat tabletop area could have a small lamp. Curved brackets under bench.
Bench with shelf below.
*Shelves face toward bench.
* Board and batton about 2:1 higher than bench. No hooks.
*Built-in benches with wainscotting behind, but no hooks or shelves above to make a narrow hallway feel crowded.
*Has a bit of everything: baskets, doors, hooks, bench. Space for shoes under bench. Awesome! Note board and batton style wall trtmt behind bench. Skip the hooks. Lower cabinets on ea end are a bit bigger than cabs above; implies stately columns. Beautiful!
*Rustic style. 2 units on separate walls. Curved dividers wpuld leave space for light switches.
*Includes small cubbies for outgoing mail, small items. Double shelves above with baskets.
?Mudroom is just an inset in the wall.
Bench not very deep, open on one end.
