It's a little too white, and though the light from the skylights is nice, all I can think is, "who's going to clean them?" I also really wish they had extended the cabinets to the soffit above. For me a crown moulding signifies a connection to a ceiling, so it emphasises that the cabinets are just hanging. Maybe a flat edge w/no moulding would help?
This feels closer to what we're looking for. I don't want a glossy dark granite counter -- grey soapstone or slate with a smooth matte finish. I like the simple cabinet faces. I am trying to think of a way to avoid a tiled/grouted backsplash behind the cooktop -- I presently have white grouted, white subway tile, and it's a lot of work keeping them clean (I cook a lot, and exuberantly).
I general this is too rustic for my taste. I do like how the cabinet in the rt corner is sort of integrated into the wall by continuing down to the counter (with a bread box?) and by running the shelf above it. However, I don't really like how the shelf kind of breaks up the vertical sweep of the peaked roof, and it's a useless shelf (except for clutter like those baskets).
They've done a decent job of integrating the cabinets on the wall against the window. Cabinets with dead space above that just look bolted on to the wall are one of my pet peeves. I'm not sure how to address this issue in our kitchen design, which will have the cabinets mounted on this aspect as well. I like the wood in this kitchen, but I think we will paint at least the ceiling white
I like the ceiling beams, and like that the cabinets and shelves come up to the ceiling so there isn't "dead space" above a cabinet. I like the soapstone countertops, but prefer a ceramic sink: I like a sink that glistens white so I can tell it's really clean. I also feel like the edge of this sink would be too delicate.
Love it!
