Kitchen
Scott: too much black.
Scott: is this enough interest factor?
Scott: Backsplash. Dave: is this glass? Not sure, probably too contemporary. Julie: NO
Scott: Backsplash. Dave: tough to get a full read but like where it is going. Julie: like, assuming not too beige
Woven seat backs
Scott: Floors are a shade darker than what we probably want but really like the stain on the island. With lighter floors would contrast even more.
Dave: great idea for trash & recycling; never seen upper drawer but good for additional storage assuming it doesn't get in way
Dave: like the cabinets all the way to the ceiling with a different look; like thick butcher block contrasted to thinner top but not sure how practical
Dave: this is an interesting take on making the overhang less out their on its own, could work; like darker floor here or all the way to lighter as well
Dave: like island w/darker wood, different type of top possibly thickness too; overall island is terrific but floor match not great. Scott: both are too dark for me.
Julie: do not like the cabinet facing Dave: not a fan, wouldn't do raised panel on island
Scott and Julie: like the wood for interest. Dave: like wood for island, but this one maybe too light; don't like end post
Julie: too white Dave: lot of white, hood dominant; like the rough idea of the pendants though
Dave: all reads a bit contemporary to me; wouldn't do overhang of top on island (or anywhere)
Scott: Backsplash? Dave: like the floor color on this one; like the idea of bringing some wood in with open shelving
Scott: Backsplash? Dave: like a lot of it - floor color, island with the waterfall edge, possibly have the gray tile all the way up, lighting style
Scott: backsplash from previous 2 photos. Interesting. Julie: like
Scott: don't like dark grey island as well as wood tones. Dave: not much working for me on this one
Scott: Probably not practical given the frequency of using our knives Dave: only could see doing knive storage like that for something like steak knives or specialty; not for everyday use
Dave: great idea for practical storage as long as easy to remove for cleaning and pipe maintenance
Scott: Backsplash? Dave: waterfall edge with countertop - pricey to do all the way but can get same effect with wood. Julie: no
Dave: nothing grabbing me on this one
Scott: too much with wood and white cabinets mixed? Dave: like the island base on th s one, counter maybe too stark, not fan of darker cabinets and style around/over hood
Scott: like this idea to lessen clutter of appliances on counter Dave: great idea to cut clutter; does this one slide out because that is a great idea too
Scott: Backsplash? Scott: like the darker wood contrast with the white cabinets Dave: like a lot here including countertops but the floor doesn't look right to me (seems like lighter would be better). Julie: no
Dave: cool idea related to #14 but not sure what works better
Dave: like the island, like bringing in some wood, big fan of that dark window frame, floor type impractical/painful
Dave: like the island style
Dave: like the neighborhood of the lighting style
Dave: fan of the sink/faucet setup and possibly the countertop that extends up the wall
Scott: dark and white cabinet mix? Dave: like a lot here including the panel fridge (stainless fridge and dishwasher(s) may drive you nuts); is countertop quartz that looks like marble?
Scott: Make the pull out waterproof for the inevitable water leak. Dave: yep, it will get wet
Scott: Like the darker wood on the floors. Like the wood highlight on the cabinet. Still think white cabinets will work better than grey. Dave: like the darker floors too (someday if I restain it will be like this); island config and seating not right though; maybe too gray overall
Scott: Wood highlight in top right. Dave: agree on getting wood highlights on the wall area somehow (and even possibly beams on the ceiling)
Dave: these are great
Dave: like the idea of breaking up the massing on the cabinetry with some open or glass
Scott: Flooring? Dave: big fan of the island and stools on this one and how it contrasts with lighter floor; gray tile on backwall also great
Scott: Darker cabinet adds interest. Like the tile stack above the cooktop. Dave: not sure on darker cabinet if the island is dark, and the beams, and the hood; like the idea of stone all the way up on a wall w/ no cabinetry
Dave: cool pantry but would do mix of open and closed options so stuff that should not be is not exposed to light
Dave: hood swallows room, lots of stainless to keep polished, under cabinet lighting not right, floor doesn't work
Scott: Backsplash? Dave: certainly more open w/ cabinetry not butting against hood; brings in some pattern; wouldn't do butcher block w/ a sink since no undermount possible. Julie: maybe on backsplash Scott: Tile may be Fatima Decorative Field in Mezzanotte, Duquesa Collection
Dave: cool pantry w/ some of the bigger stuff able to be accommodated & out; I could see whole back area of kitchen w/ a similar setup Scott: Dawn, what about some tile interest instead of the brick?
