For Architect
Can we do this? CE: Yes, this would be very similar to the Alternative Parking Scheme with an open carport in front. I love the wall that touches down and separates the entry/car areas! With a decent landscaping strip between the two areas as well, I think this could be an attractive solution. Are you open to exploring something like this further? TK yes
Like this modern gable. Also like a more finished roof ending edge on horizontal portion of house. CE: By "finished", are you referring to the horizontal board below the roof surface (en luei of exposed rafter tails), or the way the horizontal roof terminates at the gable? TK. Yes, to the horizontal board to the Roof surface. But also like to connect the two structures more strongly than you had perhaps...not sure it needs to be roof line tho. I like the strong vertical glass feel in the back of the house...somewhat loosing that with the overhang I think. Also, in lieu of solid porch overhang, can we maybe do slats or something unexpected? Don't think I'll ever sit out front in the rain....
Could we do someone like this for carport door too? Very convenient as overhead door. Yes, we could look into ways to customize a standard overhead door frame. The trick will be how to conceal the overhead track system, if we have an open area above the door as in this photo. A sliding gate may be a little more streamlined but i think we should consider the pros/cons of each.

For the rear deck. CE: Neat! The cantilever is great, very clean. I'd love to find a way to keep the stair tied neatly into the form like this so you clearly read the space below like this example.
