To maximize the amount of shade they could expect from the pergola, we adjusted the lathing across the top of the pergola to a 30-degree angle. The angle of the lathing and the pergola’s orientation to the sun’s path affect the amount of shade a pergola will provide.
Archadeck of AustinOur design for this project was multi-faceted and consisted of a large screened room with a new patio and outdoor kitchen area. You could say those were the main attractions. In addition, several amenities filled out the homeowners’ dream outdoor space, making it complete. These included a planter integrated into the concrete patio, a custom trellis on the patio, and a privacy wall at the end of the patio.

The old wicker chair was sprayed black and covered in a black and white performance fabric. The air plants are hanging by a repurposed coat rack that had an open fretwork design that was used to loop jute strings on hooks to hang them at different levels. An antique mirror was used to reflect the outdoors

His vision for the new deck was to have full space for entertainment and the only staircase the property can accommodate is a spiral one. He also needed a storage space of 4' x 8' for garden tools.

12/12 Architects & PlannersThis home, only a few years old, was beautiful inside, but had nowhere to enjoy the outdoors. This project included adding a large screened porch, with windows that slide down and stack to provide full screens above. The home's existing brick exterior walls were painted white to brighten the room, and skylights were added. The robin's egg blue ceiling and matching industrial wall sconces, along with the bright yellow accent chairs, provide a bright and cheery atmosphere in this new outdoor living space. A door leads out to to deck stairs down to the new patio with seating and fire pit.

Archadeck of AustinWe built the base of the outdoor kitchen with chop block stone. While we didn’t install the granite countertops, we did install the smooth, cream Lueders stone surface that supports the clients’ Big Green Egg. You can see these homeowners plan to do a lot of cooking outdoors. In addition to the Big Green Egg they have a grill, a griddle, a refrigerator, storage space, warming drawers and more. With bar seating at the counter, their guests will be able to visit with the chef easily.
Christopher D. Marshall Architect, LLCThe owner wanted to add a covered deck that would seamlessly tie in with the existing stone patio and also complement the architecture of the house. Our solution was to add a raised deck with a low slope roof to shelter outdoor living space and grill counter. The stair to the terrace was recessed into the deck area to allow for more usable patio space. The stair is sheltered by the roof to keep the snow off the stair.

Guenther Designs & Consulting LLCThe screened in porch is located just off the dining area. It has seperate doors leading out to the elevated pool deck. The porch has a masonry wood burning fireplace, outside cook area with built in grill and an adjoining pool bath. We vaulted the ceiling to allow the space to feel open and voluminous. We create a sitting and dining area so the porch can be enjoyed all times of the day and year round.
Archadeck - ColumbusThese homeowners are all set to spend precious hours in their 3 season room this year. Upper Arlington Eze Breeze porches are not only functional but are stylish to boot! Eze Breeze 3 season rooms offer many function and design choices. The grand cathedral ceiling features a cedar tongue and groove finish and lighted ceiling fan, which perfectly coordinates with the bronze windows. Fixed glass gable windows achieve added feeling of openness by creating a wall of windows all the way to the top of the ceiling. These homeowners chose to use pre-treated pine deck flooring in their sunroom, but composite decking or tile are also options.

"Its all for the love of junk!" exclaims Jennifer, about the free-spirited way of decorating the home's wrap-around porch. "Because it is all outside I won't spend a lot of money on any of it; I find cheap old junk in the trash or garage sales with cute colors or patterns and make it happen."
Inspired by the colors from the garden, various items are recovered or painted in pastel hues to create a comfortable and engaging place to relax.
"Raymond and I love our outdoor wrap-around porch in the summer. Because I decorate it like a house outdoors it creates the comfort of a southern home with surrounding gardens that are bursting with color and nature and fresh smells everyday. You can't help but want to sit and drink your coffee there in the morning and soak it all in. You smell the Lake Erie breeze and hear the waves crashing; its so serene."
