Dig Your Garden Landscape DesignThe pool, hot tub, patio and landscape areas were dramatically updated and modernized for this Sleepy Hollow modern hillside home. The updates feature a beautiful blue pool tile and a modern concrete patio/pool surround. I designed the concrete patio with rectangular shapes that harmoniously integrate the pool coping, providing a continuous, contemporary detail extending to the pool's edges. To add some soft touches, we incorporated several narrow accent strips within the patio, and planted them with the ground cover Elfin Thyme.
A new planting bed edges the patio below the existing stone retaining wall filled with a variety of sculptural succulents, tall Kangaroo Paw plants and edged with polished black pebbles. The polished pebbles also surround the raised galvanized planters alongside the house and are used as a fire-resistant mulch in other areas. The hillside was updated with dramatic succulents and other architectural plants and ground covers, all with low water needs. This project was completed in the Spring of 2021.

Ann Lowengart InteriorsThis large gated estate includes one of the original Ross cottages that served as a summer home for people escaping San Francisco's fog. We took the main residence built in 1941 and updated it to the current standards of 2020 while keeping the cottage as a guest house. A massive remodel in 1995 created a classic white kitchen. To add color and whimsy, we installed window treatments fabricated from a Josef Frank citrus print combined with modern furnishings. Throughout the interiors, foliate and floral patterned fabrics and wall coverings blur the inside and outside worlds.

This project features a 20’0” x 47’0” freeform swimming pool, 3’6” to 6’0” deep, and a 7’6” x 9’0” oval hot tub. The pool also features a 176 square foot freeform sunshelf. Pool and Hot Tub tile are all Oyster Blue Deco accent tiles. The glass tile on the sunshelf, pool steps, hot tub spillover and wall going into the pool is Lake Blue Blend glass tile. Both the pool and the hot tub feature Valders Wisconsin Limestone coping. The pool also features an in-floor automatic pool cleaning system. The pool and hot tub interior finish is Wet Edge Prism Matrix Deep Sea Blue color. The pool decking is mortar-set full range Bluestone. The pool features 6 deck jets water features. Ultra-Luxe design is found in the details. Each hand cut & placed dry stack stone in this scene, from their outdoor kitchen to the booted patio extension column, throughout the raised spa, the water feature wall, and the fire bowl columns are placed for depth & dimensional effect.
The 1x1 glass tile forming the spa spillway attracts the waterfall like a magnet to deliver a gentle edgeless connection to the swimming pool. With carefully cut & placed tile match on the "rolled beam" of the spa interior, the entire spa scene gleams with intent as it delivers smooth, restful comfort.
Completing the scene with an expansive pool deck color matched to bring it all together and leaving plenty of room for sports, play & relaxation delivers the total residential dream oasis.

The water is filtered through a wetland filter that uses filter media and aquatic plants to offer clean water to swim in. Enjoyable throughout the seasons, it is relatively low-maintenance compared to a traditional swimming pool.
Garden Artisans LLCOur client's childhood memories of summer fun in her parents' pool and family time on Long Beach Island, NJ is what she wanted to recreate for her own children in the comfort of their backyard. The client's wish list included a pool that was versatile for all ages and activities. We teamed up with Liquidscapes to assist with the pool design process to ensure functionality and quality was achieved. The saltwater pool has a swim lane, sun-shelf, deck jets, built-in seating and a raised spa with an 8' spillway!
The pool deck is built with limestone, which remains cool in the hot sun. A custom pavilion cantilevers the deep end of the pool serving as a shady poolside lounge. The wavy garden beds were designed to complement the freeform shape of the pool. The landscape consists of multi-layered magnolias, ilex, and cryptomeria to ensure privacy year round. Fagus, lagerstroemia, and cotinus add in-season privacy, color, and contrast. The large garden beds are filled with lush hydrangeas, perennials, perennial grasses, and ferns.
During our presentation for the front of the property, which is the final phase of this project, our client said to us: "Over the years we have dealt with many design and build companies and we're very happy we finally found one that is a pleasure to work with and cares about delivering high quality results.”
