Mike Farley Pool Designer, SWD, ASLA The homeowners wanted to keep all the trees and create a symmetrical pool. He wanted symmetry but not a boring rectangle and she wanted pretty. The curved back wall was to flow with the trees, help avoid trees and maximize the space. The Black Pebble and dark tile were chosen to be more reflective and organic. The spa was round to provide better access off the porch. The vanishing edge effect also brought the reflection of the trees into the home, raised 18" gave great access and a wonderful focal point. The yard grade could not be modified with the trees so the pool drop beam minimized the wall requirements and provided an excellent seat to watch the golf course. A second wall kept the grade to a maximum of 24" drop and connected to the existing wall that we kept. Flanking both sides of the spa were tanning ledges for many to relax, accented by LED gushers. StoneWorks, Inc.Here we have a ground level view of this spectacular pool with a corner fountain. The decking is a practical wood look porcelain tile and the stunning pool surround is a gorgeous 2 x 4 natural cleft Quartzite mosaic, in Carden Gold. To finish off the effect, we have architectural brick travertine pavers for the pool decking. And if this is not beautiful enough, the louvered walls can be folded down, for a better view of the sound!
Vernon WentzThis is a modern pool and spa set in with a wonderful modern home. The pool is surrounded by setting areas with a fire feature and the patio has a tv accent wall made of metal and stone. Mike Farley Pool Designer, SWD, ASLAThis pool project has some cool elements all combined together to create an outdoor playground. The main focal point from the house is the raised wall that contains a fire bar with stainless steel spill edges and flower pots. The spa seats 8 people comfortably, is raised 18" and has rolled glass tile with spill edges that match the pool spill edges. There is a nice cozy seating area around the sunken fireplace made for cushions and comfort. Right next to it is space for a table and chairs. Artificial grass was used to give a really lush feel to the project along with low maintence. The PebbleSheen color is Aqua Blue. We used Austin stone and Leuder's limestone (bullnozed on the chair backings and spa). The bar area has a overhang for the barstools. The large tanning ledge centers on the main door. On the far side away from the fireplace is a really cool bed swing area inspired by the owners' trip to the Carribean. It's a queen size mattress hanging from the cedar arbor that has an acrylic panel to keep the rain out. Curtains are for privacy & to help keep the sun out when wanted. Star of Texas LandscapeFour fire bowls are electronically lit via the Jandy Iaqualink smartphone app, as well as all pool controls and fountains. A large tanning ledge and long steps, seats line the length of the pool. A stacked travertine retaining wall backs the pool.
UserThe 5,000 square foot private residence is located in the community of Horseshoe Bay, above the shores of Lake LBJ, and responds to the Texas Hill Country vernacular prescribed by the community: shallow metal roofs, regional materials, sensitive scale massing and water-wise landscaping. The house opens to the scenic north and north-west views and fractures and shifts in order to keep significant oak, mesquite, elm, cedar and persimmon trees, in the process creating lush private patios and limestone terraces.
The Owners desired an accessible residence built for flexibility as they age. This led to a single level home, and the challenge to nestle the step-less house into the sloping landscape.
Full height glazing opens the house to the very beautiful arid landscape, while porches and overhangs protect interior spaces from the harsh Texas sun. Expansive walls of industrial insulated glazing panels allow soft modulated light to penetrate the interior while providing visual privacy. An integral lap pool with adjacent low fenestration reflects dappled light deep into the house.
Chaste stained concrete floors and blackened steel focal elements contrast with islands of mesquite flooring, cherry casework and fir ceilings. Selective areas of exposed limestone walls, some incorporating salvaged timber lintels, and cor-ten steel components further the contrast within the uncomplicated framework.
The Owner’s object and art collection is incorporated into the residence’s sequence of connecting galleries creating a choreography of passage that alternates between the lucid expression of simple ranch house architecture and the rich accumulation of their heritage.
The general contractor for the project is local custom homebuilder Dauphine Homes. Structural Engineering is provided by Structures Inc. of Austin, Texas, and Landscape Architecture is provided by Prado Design LLC in conjunction with Jill Nokes, also of Austin.

Betz Pools LimitedThe natural palette of materials includes the architectural stamped concrete deck, flagstone coping and ledgerock feature wall. One step down is the outdoor dining patio. Although the yard is small, there's ample room for a dining table for eight and an adjoining stand up bar. (15 x 18 custom rectangular)

Matthew Murrey DesignInspired by the contemporary architecture and vibrant lights and colors of the Las Vegas Strip, this previously designed, more traditional project, was transformed into a contemporary environment — built for entertaining.
The transformation included removing an existing pool and paving, and working around existing palm trees. The project includes a pool, zero edge spa, fire pit seating area, fire and water features, outdoor televisions, sunken outdoor kitchen, poolside bar, underwater barstools, and a USGA specified putting surface as the lawn.
