Dig Your Garden Landscape DesignAPLD 2021 Silver Award Winning Landscape Design. An expansive back yard landscape with several mature oak trees and a stunning Golden Locust tree has been transformed into a welcoming outdoor retreat. The renovations include a wraparound deck, an expansive travertine natural stone patio, stairways and pathways along with concrete retaining walls and column accents with dramatic planters. The pathways meander throughout the landscape... some with travertine stepping stones and gravel and those below the majestic oaks left natural with fallen leaves. Raised vegetable beds and fruit trees occupy some of the sunniest areas of the landscape. A variety of low-water and low-maintenance plants for both sunny and shady areas include several succulents, grasses, CA natives and other site-appropriate Mediterranean plants complimented by a variety of boulders. California Eco Design, Inc.This is a Roberto Burle Marx- inspired design, a drought tolerant landscape that imitates the vibrant colors and patterns of the tropics. We kept the monstera and bird of paradise plants, and with the colorful trim on the house, it all works together in this eclectic mashup.

Tom Meaney Architect, AIAThe design objective for this six acre ocean view parcel in Montecito was to create a literal replication of an 1800's California hacienda. Four adobe structures define the central courtyard while secondary terraces and walled gardens expand the living areas towards the views and morning light. Simple, rustic details and traditional, handmade materials evoke a lifestyle of a distant era.

Dig Your Garden Landscape DesignThe traditional fountain and surroundings are embellished with a variety of drought tolerant grasses, flowering plants and succulents. The removal of the dense and overgrown shrubs provides more outdoor living space for dining and entertaining for the homeowners' enjoyment. And now with site-appropriate plants and no lawn there is less maintenance and a lower water bill. Full color Blue stone and small mexican pebbles replace the lawn and pathways resulting in an updated and contemporary transformation. A variety of low-water plants including succulents offer year-round appeal and interest throughout the seasons to include Sedum rupestre 'Angelina', with chartreuse foliage, other varieties of sedum along with Echeveria succulents, Echinacea and grases.
