Dig Your Garden Landscape DesignThe back areas of this expansive back yard landscape lies beneath several mature oak trees. Lounging chairs positioned to take advantage of the distant hillside views. The landscape has has been transformed into a welcoming outdoor retreat. The renovations include a wraparound deck, an expansive travertine natural stone patio, stairways and pathways along with concrete retaining walls and column accents with dramatic planters. The pathways meander throughout the landscape... some with travertine stepping stones and gravel and those below the majestic oaks left natural with fallen leaves. Raised vegetable beds and fruit trees occupy some of the sunniest areas of the landscape. A variety of low-water and low-maintenance plants for both sunny and shady areas include several succulents, grasses, CA natives and other site-appropriate Mediterranean plants complimented by a variety of boulders. Ecoscape Environmental DesignBoulder County, Colorado is home to over 100,000 acres of open space. These lands help to conserve the natural, cultural, and agricultural resources that would otherwise be up for unchecked commercial development. Homes that border open space land have an opportunity to support that 'transitional edge', as a place for plant and animal diversity. Native and pollinator-friendly perennials line the dry creek bed, with water runoff benefiting the plants. Keeping a 'natural look' with the landscape so that it flows to the open space was a key desire of the homeowner. The plants are still quite young here, but were selected so that full-grown they would not diminish the expansive views.

Art Garden DesignThis property had not been landscaped for more than 25 years. The entryway and front hillside were covered in large juniper hedges, the Oaks and Redwoods on the property were littered with dead branches, and construction debris from decades was scattered throughout the creek-side property. After extensive tree work and removals, the front yard construction consisted of a moss rock boulder creek that wrapped down the front hillside. The backyard design integrated a new Redwood deck, black basalt gravel patio, and shade appropriate plants. The tree work allowed more light onto the property, and the home owners were able to finally enjoy their outdoor space.
