H Brettell & Sons LtdH Brettell & Sons Ltd - This picturesque grade two listed town house in a fashionable area of north London needed a new staircase and handrail to link the upper floors. The stairs and handrail had to be in keeping with the age and style of the property but a small landing had to be added to the new stairs to comply with building regulations.
Once the new stair had been installed the existing handrail was married with the new to give the appearance of always having been there. Various other parts of the handrail were repaired or replaced before being stripped and French polished. The result was to restore the complete staircase to its original splendour while keeping as much of the original components as possible.
Portland Stair CompanyFinal installation. This system takes about 2 minutes to remove or install. It was design with this in mind. It has three points of attachment, lower section at bottom of post and two against the upper section on the wall.

Prime Hardwood Floors of Los AngelesWe had the honor of working with Jessica Today Design on this sitting area and staircase for the 2017 Pasadena Showcase House of Design. Du Bois - Nathalie engineered hardwood floors, by The Garrison Collection, were installed to help execute Jessica's vision for the space.
Jessica's Design Concept:
"The house was built in 1916 by prominent architectural firm Marston and Van Pelt. In keeping with the English Tudor style of the house, I really wanted the design to capture a classic English look. So the walls were painted a dark gray, the red carpet was replaced with hardwood flooring, and the chunky wooden handrail was replaced with an airy metal railing finished in a dark patina. The overall colors mimic that of an English landscape. I finished the space with more traditional decor - a vintage French armchair, a gallery of classic portraits and old books that I discovered at a flea market."
