Customised racing-inspired home office

This customised racing-inspired home office was created to indulge our client’s passion for motorsports. Two shallow chimney breast alcove units, built with illuminated glass shelves, display favourite racing memorabilia and artefacts. All the fitted cabinetry makes use of the available space, with surface tops featuring a simple thick flush flat edge and plinths and cornices trimmed with a chamfered design. The large, handsome bespoke desk takes centre stage in the room and was specially commissioned to reflect the iconic writing table which featured in three James Bond movies. The resulting home office interior has a suave, sophisticated look, fit for 007 himself. The handcrafted cabinets, with shaker style doors and polished chrome knobs, have been flawlessly painted in Farrow and Ball Cardroom Green. This strong, dark green was popular in Victorian studies and echoes the best-known colour in motorsport, British racing green. Dark tones are smart and business-like yet also feel inviting and contemporary, especially when used on woodwork. This stunning rosewood and metal desk was modelled on the iconic ‘Bond’ writing table. The original mid-century design now fetches over £30,000. A local artisan metalworker made the bespoke custom polished base frame. The L-shaped corner cabinet has a rosewood top to match the desk. Rosewood is one of the most expensive, protected exotic timbers in the world and highly prized for its looks.
