We asked our kitchen designer Michele to tell us about her kitchen; designed by Michele and installed of course by the team at Janus Interiors.
My Kitchen
My kitchen was designed for my new house extension. In fact the reality is that the extension was designed to fit my dream kitchen!
Fed up with being stuck in the kitchen not seeing anyone I wanted an open plan family living space. Usually there are 4 or 5 of us for meals but it can be up to 16 or 17 so the family/entertaining space was the starting point.
The centre of my design literally is my island from where everything is easily accessible. The island is where my food prep takes place. Hidden waste and recycle bins are right in front of me, sink and fridge by my side and hob behind with multiple ovens close at hand.
My larder is a pull out storage unit, easy to pull out and everything is there.
My kitchen is a Sheraton Ivory inframe with Delicatus granite worktop. The appliances are all Bosche and yes I did choose the top of the range, my favourite being my induction hob, induction cooking is amazing! And the lighting just sets it all off perfectly.
Why it works so well is due to the detailed precision planning right down to the inch perfect placement of pipes, water, drainage, electrics, sockets etc.
When I set out I hoped the end result would not only satisfy my dream but wow and impress those who come to visit. Given the comments and smiles I receive I seem to have done just that. Just as well as designing kitchens is my living.
I love my new kitchen, I loved designing it and I love using my kitchen design skills to help others land their dream too.
