What is the typical width of outside wall for perimeter overflow spas

I have normally seen outside wall 12-14 inches ( 8-12 inches gunite) but couple of new builds i saw wall with glass tiles as 18.5 inches giving the spa much bigger look . for outside wall to be 18 inches + what’s the width of gunite bond beam ?

    Wouldn't your bond beam be total width - veneer? So if you need, for example, 1/2" each side for tile+mortar on an overflow (infinity) wall, to get 18.5" total width you'd design a 17.5" beam?

    On a raised or perimeter overflow spa, we make the beams 16"-18".

    This gives us ample room for plumbing considerations.

    I also believe making a statement with a big and bold beam with a massive coping stone or glass tile is impressive.

    Factoring the total veneer of tile, thinset, waterproofing material is not super important, but a consideration if there are tight tolerances.

    Most shotcrete/gunite crews are very good on measurements, but there will always be a little fixing with material on any project.

    Also, laying 1x1 glass tiles to achieve say a 16" finish, will generally not be exactly 16".

    (16) tiles may not equal 16" so an additional row may be needed. But it may work out to

    16 3/4" or slightly more.

    You don't want half a tile.
