Coffee table or something else?

Trying to go for a transitional look in the living room. The current coffee table doesn’t work but I’m struggling with what to replace it with. There will be two of the chairs where the Christmas tree currently is. I will post a picture when that second chair arrives for reference on seating arrangement. A few things:

-It’s not a high traffic room but there isn’t a ton of walk through space.

-open to all shapes, sizes except for glass (though I think that could look nice)

-should the table be available for the couch and two seating chairs or use side tables.

-add a side table next to the couch? If not, need something to fill that space.

-forego traditional coffee table all together and go with an ottoman? Nesting tables perhaps?

I really want to capture that transitional look so not sure which design direction to go for the table, traditional or modern.

Thanks in advance!

I would start with art on the wall above the sofa , I hope the other chair is a match to the one there by the tree 3 disfferent chairs is one too many. Drapes on the windows and a glass and wood coffee table

More of a blank canvas view. Still waiting on the matching chair.

Your room looks so pretty with your Christmas decor. Now finish it with tables/lamps, art, and curtains. Get a coffee table if you feel the need for one.

Your little table is just fine and looks perfect in your room. It is not imposing and looks quite functional and non dictating. Leave it be. It is in perfect scale with the room.

This has helped. I kept thinking I should complete furniture setup before getting decor and curtains but maybe I should do that first and it’ll inspire the coffee and side tables.

I’m being picky but you need a bigger Christmas tree. (Unless Charlie Brown lives there).

Here are some ideas. Art in two different mediums. Painting over mantel and Mid-Century metal art over sofa. With your new chairs, being MCM I would do a glass top MCM coffee table, end table and floor lamp. Some drapery panels knife style each side of windows and floor lamp plus table lamp.

No grommet style panels. You need backtab style that can be stacked tight on each side of windows.

Some suggestions on how to finish off the room and placement of items. I like tables that can fulfill a variety of functions. Perhaps this coffee table with a lift top that is designed for storage can accommodate that.

Lots of great art to select from out there. GreatBigCanvas.com offers me a 50% coupon everyday in my emaill box.

Add a round table next to the sofa so that everything doesn't have 90 degree corners.

Very nice Beverly. I like the larger mirror above the fireplace, drapes and adding round shapes. Particularly like the trunk look coffee table.

I wouldn’t put bulky coffee table due to the fact that you have to “walk through” this room. The classic one I chose allows you to position flat side toward sofa and rounded corners to pathway so easier and lighter to keep things open feeling. Art is very personal so use these as concepts. Look on art.com for lots of economical options.
