    Hi There,

There are a couple reasons we didn't take the tile all the way up. The first is that there was existing crown moulding, and it doesn't look right to have crown over tile in a shower. Instead of removing the crown and returning it on the sides of the alcove, our clients elected to keep it and just stop the tile short. It can also look strange to have tile go up above a shower curtain (almost like an elevator shaft), unless you have a custom curtain made that's taller. In this case they wanted to use a standard sized curtain. We don't have the exact height, but we planned it so the shower head would be in the tile (typically shower heads are 84" high) and so there would be full tiles without cuts. Those tiles are 12" and the bullnose is 3".

    Hope that helps!

Thank you so much for responding. Just a follow up. Im using a framed glass tub shower door would you sitll recommend to keep the tile below the ceiligng . I want to do the crown moulding too, is it usually not reocmmended to use crown molding in a tub/shower , can it be runined by the water. if not, what model molding was used. What paint color was used on ceiliing .do you know height of the room. thx again

Ideally there wouldn't be crown in the shower area due to moisture, but if you have a good exhaust fan it won't be an issue. In that case we wouldn't recommend tiling all the way to the crown. The ceiling in this bathroom is only 8' high. The records for this project have been archived so we don't have the crown and paint info besides what's already been tagged in the images.

    Good luck to you!

thanks again for all the responses. One last question, is the tile above tub glossy and tile on floor a matte finish?
