Ideas lighting a home office & gaming room?

Hi All,


I'm in the process of sorting out the lighting for my new office, and I'm really struggling on how to do the lighting. Now this is being built from scratch by myself so anything is an option whether its ceiling lighting, wall lighting, shelf, desk, floor etc.


I love accent lighting and warm, moody lighting rather than stark whites, however I also love to make use of colourful lighting for the "gaming" look (without overdoing it) but also keeping things "clean"


Some good and bad examples of what I like are below:

Can anyone help with some suggestions. I feel a bit overwhelmed at this point and not sure what to do! (Colour schemes, layout, materials etc are not final, so if you have suggestions there, please do!)

    I think because you have the length/depth of the desk, I would suggest running the lighting behind the desk (so similar to your final example but running in the L shape!).

    I only have experience using these lights in kitchen bars but attached is a link which would be super easy for you to install yourself.

    Thanks. I've got plenty of experience with these so will likely install something like that. Perhaps a similar solution under the shelves?


    Any recommendations on ceiling lights, bulb types etc?

    Perhaps something like Philips Hue lighting? I have no experience with it, but have only heard positive reviews. You can change colours, set moods. https://www2.meethue.com/en-gb/philips-hue-benefits

    You can also control Philips Hue with an Amazon Alexa, definitely a gadget room thing :)

    I'll be using Hue and other variations including some of my home automation. I think i'll pop these behind the desk and shelves. It's now just for the things like ceiling lights, and wall lights, desk lights, accent lights elsewhere etc that im not sure on
