    It's natural cherry. We wrapped the post in 1/4"-thick toe kick covers from the cabinet shop, mitering the corners. It looks solid!

    Wow! Thanks for the quick response! Would love to see how it has darkened. Trying to pick between cherry and red birch.... Thank you - it is lovely!

    Go to Ramble No More. It is a red birch kitchen with a custom-mixed stain on it to make it look like natural cherry. The advantage to you is it will not darken as much as natural cherry. Natural cherry is very photoreactive. So much so, that I warn installers to not lean anything on the cabinets or stack items with faces partially exposed. On a sunny day, there will be a notceable difference within a short time. The red birch is more dense, as well. Overall, it is a much better choice, IMHO.
