Best Layout from Kitchen to Living Room

We are struggling to decide
on which is the best option to go from our kitchen/dining room into our living
room.
We
have two options drawn up below but my wife and I have different
opinions. She prefers option 1 with a centre wall with a double sided fireplace
and pocket doors either side whereas I prefer option 2 with the double doors
(which would be pocket ones) into the kitchen area. With my option we would
have the fireplace and TV unit along the back wall but in either case we will
certainly get rid of the door from the hall to the living room.
Any
advice/ideas would be very much welcomed and helpful as we need to make a
decision shortly.
