How to change a concrete patio into a warm, colorful outdoor patio?

Painting? It does not last. Could I use ceramics since I live in Québec and our
winters are cold?

consider concrete staining. very inexpensive and a fairly easy diy.

Concrete staining is probably the easiest option if your concrete is already poured. If it isn't, a contractor can mix pigment into the mixture before pouring which will make sure the color lasts. If it's already poured, the staining will last a while but not forever, depending on the patio's usage.

Concrete staining is the easiest option for a change, but potentially consider patio pavers. They can withstand weather much better, especially in those cold winters, and they are highly customizable so you can get exactly what you want.

Porcelain patio pavers have essentially zero absorption so can be used in areas subject to freeze/thaw issue. And you can lay them over your existing concrete by putting rubber pads under each corner of the paver. Handydeck has over 30 colors of 24" x 24" porcelain pavers including wood look
