Is the wine room refrigerated? If so how is it insulated with floor to ceiling glass with no trim?

    Hello Nzivey. Thank you so much for your inquiry. This client opted out of cooling. They ordered single deep racks to simply display every day wines. In their opinion, this was not intended for long term storage. Having said that, so many of us LOVE the look of frameless glass as you indicated. Because this is so popular (and we know the temperature/humidity is paramount), we calculate the BTU needed based on all the variables: exterior temperatures, desired cellar temperature, single or double paned glass, insulation, vapor barrier, you name it. With this, we size the unit accordingly and make our recommendations. I hear you though. When I first started this business, the single paned non-insulated scenario was heavily frowned upon. Now, it's become industry standard to overcome the esthetic obstacles and give clients what they want...all the while maintaining the proper cellar environment.

    Good Q&A so far. It is true that the glass wall and door system in wine cellars has become extremely popular. It is certainly a challenge to create a climate controlled environment within a sealed glass box. We design and engineer these rooms all the time. It is easy to get wrong due to very low tolerances.
