Help with choice of flooring for new build

ruthytay

Our new build is not far from completion and our builder wants us to choose flooring. The kitchen, dining room and lounge are open plan. We like the idea of large tiles throughout these rooms into hall too but is that a good idea and if so what colour is best?

    Hello Ruth!

Have you considered an Easy Floor Micro Cement floor finish? Many of our Client's have found this to be a great alternative to tiles! Take a look on our website and check out our floors at www.applicart.co.uk or our new blog post may be of interest to you (Micro Cement instead of tiles!!) www.applicart.co.uk/blog

    Happy Floor Finding :)

Tiles will be noisy and chilly. What about wood?

Tiles tend to be very hard on your feet, they're also cold and as wood window alliance said they can be noisy too. I would suggest an engineered wood floor throughout.

we have 80 x80 Porcelain in the kitchen currently. Looks great, we do have wood in the sitting room tho, If you have Underfloor heating the tiles actually conduct heat very well.

Thanks for all your comments, very helpful. We are having underfloor heating so wouldn't need to worry about the tiles feeling cold. Like the idea of wooden effect tiles...
