Can I get a plan for finishing a bunk room like this? Cost?

We are interested in a plan for a bunk room in our cabin basement. The room that we want to use is 15' by 13' with a 7' ceiling. There is a window on the outside wall that measures 48" by 60". Would love to know the cost of a plan and how many bunks we can fit.

Thanks!

There are many ways to achieve your goal. Your best bet is to hire a local custom finish carpenter or cabinet shop to measure and layout a version of our bunk room for your space. A local interior designer or architectural draftsman could do the same. Request your local craftsperson to prepare bunk room drawings for you to review. We are happy to review the drawings your local team develops and add comment or direction. At 15 feet long you have the opportunity to add some storage cubicles at the ends. Given the 7 foot ceiling you will have to use lower profile mattresses and possibly eliminate or reduce the drawers. USB power and individual bunk lights are nice features to include while you are at it.

Thanks so much for the direction. I will be in touch if we need a review of our plan.

The next trick is to select your materials carefully. This entire room is finished with reclaimed fir from an ice house in Colorado. If your home is rustic then reclaimed materials may apply. We have installed many bunk systems that are painted or smooth finished as well.

Also, select and measure your actual mattress size in advance and add at least 1 1/2" all around to make bed making easier. Choose twin or full 'long' so adults can use the beds too.

If you have drawers make sure the glides and bases are very heavy duty. Kids will tend to use them as steps to climb on. Is some cases we have made the lower drawer a trundle bed for an additional sleeping spot.

Make sure your room is well ventilated. You may have to extend the rooms' existing supply and return ducts through your new built in bunk system - be sure not to block them off. Adding a door vent may be a good idea as well.
