    The backsplash mosaic was designed by our designer in chief Liza G, and the individual tiles were custom cut, polished and pieced together in Shanghai China, where this house is located. The other backsplash tiles were also custom made from a selection of small stone, marble and glass pre-cut and finished tiles available at the same supplier.

    One advantage of decorating in China is that the relative labor costs of well trained craftsmen is still a bit lower than in many more developed countries, which means that ones imagination tends to be the limiting factor to the handcrafted custom portions of a design project, rather than the more expectable situation where budget is often the limiting factor. The situation is of course changing as China's labor costs rise and fewer young people join the ranks of custom craftsmen.
